    Thanks to the generosity of those who have donated to the 2017-18 Annual Fund, Gamma Chi Chapter might just be able to hit our goal of $13,000 but we are not there yet. With 96 donors and $9,990 raised so far, we are over where we were this time last year ($6,670 from 66 donors), and with a few weeks still left to go, if we pull together, we could even surpass the goal!

    What Do We Take With Us After Graduation?

    Recently, the North-American Interfraternity Conference and National Panhellenic Conference partnered with Gallup to conduct research on the well-being of fraternity and sorority members. These Greek society governing bodies wanted to really know if their members were actually better off after college graduation because of their Greek experiences. And to no surprise, it showed they were. The results showed that respondents who were a part of Greek life in college scored higher in overall well-being, workplace engagement, collegiate support, experiential learning and alumni attachment compared to those not involved in Greek life.     Mark Updegrove, ’84, recalls how Sigma Chi has left a lasting impact on his life and career

    From President of the chapter to President of the United States, Mark Updegrove has often found himself among great leaders. “I’ve had good fortune to get to know five U.S. Presidents throughout my career – George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, and the late Gerald Ford. From them, I’ve taken lessons in leadership that have helped me in my own life and career.     The 17th Annual ‘60s Sigs Reunion Renews Brotherhood

    Sigma Chi brothers who graduated from the University of Maryland in the 60s got together for a long weekend in May to catch up, reminisce about good times and, of course, watch the Kentucky Derby.

    The 17th Annual 60s Sigs Reunion started May 5 to line up with Derby and finished Tuesday, May 8.   • Gamma Chi Alum Sets Guinness World Record

    Tyler Carnevale '16 Named Youngest Person to Row the Arctic Ocean Open Waters North to South

    Congratulations to Tyler Carnevale ‘16 for being recognized by Guinness World Records as the youngest person to row the Arctic Ocean Open Waters north to south. Brother Carnevale was 23-years-old and 47 days at the start of his 835-mile (1,344-km; 726-nautical-mile) row from Longyearbyen, Svalbard, to Jan Mayen Island, Norway, in a team of six on board Polar Row. The row lasted 13 days 17 hr 30 min from 8 to 21 August 2017.
