Crabcakes and Football Festival

There will be a rather large contingent of Maryland alumni heading to Austin for Labor Day weekend. While there is a little football game to be played that weekend (Maryland Terrapins vs. Texas Longhorns on Saturday, September 2), there is also a fun weekend of introducing Texas to CRABCAKES AND FOOTBALL (because, THAT'S WHAT WE DO!).

Please keep this weekend open on your calendars. If you ever plan on visiting Austin, this is the time to do it! We're planning some good times for that weekend.

Note: Austin has hotel demand that tends to cause sell outs up to a year in advance for certain weekends, and this is one of them. Be sure to book your hotel in advance.

One of our Sigma Chi brothers, Jonathan Valz ’95, owns a great bar in downtown Austin just two miles from the stadium, The Concrete Cowboy. The bar will serve as the Maryland Fan Headquarters for the weekend, and by popular request, will be serving fresh "Baltimore Orange Crushes" all weekend long.

The Concrete Cowboy will be hosting the Maryland Football Radio Show from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 1, as well as the University’s Alumni Association’s welcome happy hour from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Saturday morning, the bar will host an alumni pre-game party starting at 8 a.m. Free breakfast tacos will be served.

We hope some of you can join us for the first-ever Crabcakes and Football Festival in Austin over Labor Day 2017. Please pass this on to other friends and family to make this a weekend to remember!
